EAATC Historical Fire Videos

Long before the days when portable video tape cameras were commonplace, as today, the shooting of film, 8mm, Super 8mm, or 16mm, was the method usually used to capture desired footages. This sites webmaster, while mostely a still camera user, shot a number of fires in the late 1970's, and early 1980's on Super 8mm film. Those old films sat on metal reels, in a desk drawer, in his basement since then.

Those old films were beginning to deteriorate, and started showing some molding. In an effort to preserve those film images the Extra Alarm Association has begun a project to convert those films to digital images, and present them here for all to see.

Unfortunately some of the images have deteriorated so badly that they are not what might be called 'perfect' images. However, we feel that the images are a part of history, and therefore whatever their condition, they are better preserved as is, rather than being lost forever.

Where appropriate we have added still images that may enhance events related to the fire in question. In most cases we have also added the 'responce card' to the footage, as well as a map of the fires location.

We hope you enjoy them. There were some 'good' fires back in the 'old days'
