I left today on an 18-day fall vacation trip that includes a week stay at a timeshare Karyle traded for in Nashville, TN. I will pick Karyle at the airport when she flies into Nashville on Wednesday afternoon.

I left for Chicago around 0800 hours and had an uneventful drive to the Windy City. It got very slow at times as I approached Chicago as some of the toll stations no longer have coin drop lanes. They are pushing the Express Pass units really hard and have doubled the fees for everyone else. Gas was $2.89/gallon for Unleaded everywhere I checked on the way down.

I arrived at Paige and Donna Van Vorst’s home around 1500 hours. It was very cold and overcast in Chicago. It was also Paige’s birthday today, so I took Paige and Donna out to dinner to celebrate Paige’s 59th. It had started raining when we went to dinner. We spent a very enjoyable night visiting and looking through old photos. There were no fires in Chicago that night.
