So, you've decided to download in install Google Earth. BEFORE you
do, there's one thing (at least one) you should understand.
Google Earth (I'm going to use 'GE' from now on) is an INTERNET BASED
application. Which means what? The program totally depends on an active
net connection to operate. For example, GE 'contains' images of the
whole globe. Are they included on YOUR machine. NO. The program 'grabs'
whatever PORTION of the world map it needs to display REAL TIME. Meaning
if you shift your view on the map GE needs to 'grab' a new section of the
map via your LIVE connection to the internet.
What if I'm not connected to the net? Will GE work? Not very well,
as it will be unable to update the images on the map. There are many
other things it will not do as well as we will learn later.
Meaning, if you do NOT have a fast (faster than dial-up) internet connection whenever you plan to
use GE, you may want to think about whether or not it is the application
for you.

First of all Google EarthTM is FREE! Yup, free.
To obtain your copy go to the Google EarthTM home page or click
the GoogleTM icon below.
then click the large "Download" icon in the upper righthand corner
of the page. Also, explore the pages' many links to descriptions of the
programs features. Yes, it works on Macs too.
After you click on the download icon you'll get a screen like this...
Fill in your email address, read the "Term and Conditions statement, and then click the "Agree and Download button".
You will get a similar screen to this (it may be different
depending a which type of browser your using)
Save the file, it's about a 13meg download.

Now you will have to locate the file you downloaded, and execute it.
It is an .exe file so double clicking it should do it. The you will be
taken through the typical Windows file installation process. The Windows
installer will open the downloaded file, perform a system requirements
check, and then install all the required files.
Assuming all goes well you should end up with an icon like this...

on your desktop.
I am not a 'Mac' user, but I would assume the process is similar.
